0.8.9b Crash to Desktop Upon Clicking

So, I feel like I've done all I can to get the newest version to run;
compatibility mode: XP (SP3)
Disable fullscreen optimizations
Run as admin
Legacy Components > DirectPlay: On
DirectX 9 installed
regedited Resolution to 01 00 00 00 and Windowed to 00
edited Settings.json for resolution to be 1440x900 and Windowed to 0.

But when I start the game, I get the intro videos, all works well as I also see the main menu, but as soon as I click anywhere on screen, it crashes to desktop.
Had no issues running 0.8.8b earlier the same day.

Running on Windows 10, version 20H2 (19042.1288)
