All magic skills are leveled up from the spells tab, not the skills tab. They're still left there to see the requirements to unlock that skill. Many people got confused by this, so maybe their removal would be for the best.

If you remove them you should note somewhere on which Lv you can unlock them. Also you could make it possible to power them up like earlier, but to get Points for selecting spells instead of them automatically going down the list (like in the start).
