Yesterday, I went around updating the WBC3 wiki to include every unit's size / alignment / race details by taking the information directly from army.cfg. While doing so, I came across a lot of abnormal tags for units - some of which are clearly bugs!
Since these issues were present in the original game, The Protectors has adopted them, too.

Here is an example of what I found, but as I wont be able to remember all of them, you'll need to run through the whole of the army.cfg yourself so all are fixed.

  • Gnolls are tagged as being Orcs, as well as being tagged as evil. Non of Sartek's creatures are evil and are all considered neutral. As for their race - perhaps monster for them? Orc certainly is wrong. DONE!
  • Red and Black Mages are treated as being neutral, where as the rest of the Human race (including White and Blue Mages) are all tagged as being good creatures. DONE!
  • To my surprise, Barbarians are actually tagged good creatures (not neutral!) but yet Dwarves are tagged neutral and not good. DONE!
  • Harpies have no race tag. Apparently, they're not even beasts (monsters).... NOT IN TPC
  • All Titans introduced in WBC3 have their respective race, but yet, all past Titans are tagged as being Monsters. This means Beast Slayer skills work against all but the new 4 Titans. Either all Titans should be considered Monsters, or they should each gain their own race tag. I.E: So Balora should be tagged as being a Daemon, Lord Bane should be tagged as being Undead, Lunarion should be tagged as being High Elf etc.... DONE! each titan has their own race tag
  • Elven Hunters are found only in Wood Elves, but yet they're tagged as being High Elf. DONE!
  • Dark Dwarves aren't tagged as being evil - they're neutral just like all other Dwavres. no problem there
  • Firebombs are tagged as being large units. Surely they should be small? DONE!
  • Minotaur Kings are tagged as being huge, yet Giants (like Ogres) are tagged as being just large. DONE! Giants are huge
  • Not all Daemon units are tagged as being an Extra Planar creature. DONE!
  • Imps aren't tagged as being evil. That's wrong, right? DONE!
  • A lot of the Swarm race isn't tagged as evil - most of them are just neutral. DONE!
  • Thralls are neutral, yet every other Barbarian is good. (Thralls are tagged as being Barbarian for their race) no problem there
  • Minotaur Shaman are tagged as being large, despite being the same size as every other Minotaur unit (who are all tagged as being medium in size). This means Minotaur Shaman are affected by Reave skills. DONE!
  • Elephants are neutral and have no race tag, despite being in a good natured Human army.
  • Lightning Hawks are tagged as being good. Wouldn't it make more sense for them to be neutral, like every single other basic / advanced flier in the game? DONE!
  • Fey are actually tagged as good creatures! I accept this, but they've always been said to be neutral.
  • Oakmen are tagged as being large, but to me, they should be just medium. DONE!
  • Ancient Treants are treated as being the exact same size as normal Treants..... Needless to say, Ancient Treants should be tagged as being huge, not large. DONE!
  • Spiders / Queen Spiders have no race tag. I would have though Insect or Monster would have been appropriate for them. NOT IN TPC
  • Plaguelords are a mess! Just about nothing has a race tag. I suppose this is because nothing suits them. How about introducing a new one - Mutant? You could then also introduce a new race slaying skill to work against them - Abomination Slayer. That way, every race in the game would have a race associated with them and a slayer skill that works against them, too. NOT IN TPC

I have edited the list based on progress in version 0.8.3.

Something else that has just occurred to me: Not all Titans are tagged as being huge. In fact, Lord Melkor is tagged as being small! At a glance it seems only the new Titans (except The Lion Throne) have non-huge tags. But I would recommend checking them all.

Only Lord Melkor, Antharg and Iriki weren't huge. Fixed in 0.8.3
