[FIXED] [0.8.7] Game won't start

The black screen issue can be bypassed by restarting the game. Change to desired resolution, hit apply, try to navigate through the blackness with your mouse cursor to the quit button and voila.

The current control panel is a bit too big for low resolutions.

I'll second the ntdll.dll error. From the little bit that I've read online, it might have something to do with accidentally installing NVIDIA with windows update. I deleted the driver, but the damage had already been done, and I'm not competent enough to fix the problem. Thankfully 0.8.6 works!

I got a new computer, and as soon as I installed the AMD Display Driver from their website, it started faulting The Protectors. My brother did the same with the NVIDIA Driver just to make sure it wasn't just AMD. Low and behold, should a person install anything but the Windows
7-8-10 default driver, MSDISPLAY then it crashes. Funny thing is, was able to play it before the driver was installed.

Also the log detected when AMD driver was installed, was -4096 x -1080. Never seen negative values in the logs until the driver was installed.

Step #3 might help you. I always do a clean install, you can either remove graphic card drivers through windows "uninstall or change a program" in programs and features at control panel, or when installing a new driver, select the "clean install option".

If it doesn't work, try an older driver for your operating system.

This is the infamous display bug. This one was fixed in 0.8.9. Close the topic whenever you like Pat.
