Game will not even load a screen.

I've tried deleting all the registry files tied to it, deleting the documents folder. I haven't got a darn clue what to do. I used the .exe installer and nothing is happening. I haven't the foggiest why.

After reading all your comments on moddb around this issue, seems to me you have a lot of junk files on your machine. I play the game on a stupid old laptop I found in the garbage for almost 8 years (my video card is a piece of white paper) and the key for its incredible health is constant cleaning of junk files, defragmentation and disk formatting.

While doing the steps below, make sure you run as admin, if needed.

Step 1: Delete all TPC files (except the installer and cab files, obviously)
Step 2: Clean your registry files (I use C-Cleaner, it's free and pretty good)
Step 3: Install newest version via the .exe
Step 4: Make sure your screen supports 800x600 resolution
Step 5: Run the game in compatibility mode for win xp (sp3) or win 98.

Also, since you are still confused about FULL vs patches, besides Patrick's info (and this is implicit in the steps), 0.8.5 is a FULL version (you don't need previous version to run it).
